OUR APPROACH

The Perfect Score Club specializes in preparation for a full range of academic subjects, standardized tests, and the college process. We employ only professional tutors who are able to score perfectly on the tests that they tutor, and require them to regularly sit for the exams they tutor, as our philosophy is that only tutors who have demonstrated a continuing ability to answer every question correctly are qualified to tutor that test. We regularly see students who are striving for perfect scores and admission to the most selective institutions of learning in the world. They deserve tutors who have earned such scores, repeatedly, and who were educated at such institutions.

Our tutors will never encounter a question they cannot correctly and robustly answer. They are accordingly well-compensated and results-focused. We use sophisticated statistical analysis of student performance on a range of diagnostic exercises to isolate and prioritize student deficiencies. We proceed to design an appropriate schedule for tutoring, practice work, further diagnostic examination through frequent mock testing, and official testing. Students work through our proprietary preparation programs for their particular subjects and tests, with these programs tailored to their strengths and weaknesses.

We offer in-home, online, and office based tutoring. We see students from all over the world, from Swiss boarding schools to Philadelphia public schools. Our online tutors use Skype with professional grade teleconferencing hardware, graphics tablets, touchscreen monitors, and a variety of online software applications to engage students both nationally and internationally, as well as to ease scheduling and travel challenges for busy students and tutors.

The Perfect Score Club also offers admissions counseling and specializes in essay and application consulting for secondary, undergraduate, and graduate admissions.

Diagnostic/Mock Testing

We hold diagnostic and mock testing every Sunday morning. Diagnostic testing pinpoints students’ strengths and weaknesses and helps to determine which test is advisable for the student to pursue. Mock testing helps to assess progress and to render the experience of sitting for a test unintimidating. The experiential elements of testing can be central to a student's performance in the official testing room. There’s just something about the student experiencing the test as he or she will in the official testing room, early in the morning and with other students present. These elements are ones that are out of a tutor's hands beyond encouraging students to practice the exercise itself and then fully reviewing the results with a tutor. We employ sophisticated statistical analysis of the meta data of each question and produce score reports that are even more rigorous than those offered by the test-maker itself.

QUIZ BOWL

(if you're not familiar with quiz bowl, here is a useful link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBn3X-mcCm8).

The Perfect Score Club regularly holds SAT/ACT quiz bowls at our Ardmore office. Students buzz in with their responses to questions from the content of these tests interspersed with  general/popular teenager knowledge (e.g. "In the equation of a circle, the variables 'h' and 'k' represent what?" Next question: "What Toronto-born recording artist, whose hits include 'Best I Ever Had' and 'Hotline Bling,' shares his stage name with the proper ornithological term for a male duck?"). We also host similar events for students of varying ages for both dedicated and varied topics like vocabulary, math, history, science, literature etc.  The system's scoreboard is projected onto the office's smart board, with both individual and team/school competition possible.

Quiz bowl is both fun and edifying for both student and tutor. The host is our founder and director, Adam Fitzgerald, who makes both good and bad jokes while offering quick insight into the correct and incorrect answers. At the moment there is no charge for this service, although it is by invitation only. Instead we offer pizza for the students.

PRICING/PROGRAMS

Our professional services are not inexpensive, as we employ only well-compensated tutors to ensure top-tier performance, utilize state-of-the-art computer software and hardware, and do not bill for the extensive administrative work we perform.

Please note that The Perfect Score Club does not do “crash course” tutoring. We require students to meet for at least one 1-hour meeting per week, and will see students for 16, 24 or 48 hour programs.

Specific pricing varies, based on a number of factors. Please contact us for a custom price quote.

POLICIES

We’re regrettably unavailable by text message, but are always available by email and phone during regular business hours.

Payment is due in advance of meetings.

Unfortunately flexibility of scheduling is not one of our strong suits. As we book the schedule in full and begin a waiting list, it's often difficult, and sometimes impossible, to find times to reschedule. If furnished more than 24 hours of notice, we'll do our best to reschedule before the end of the month to a time during which another student has cancelled, but can't always be certain of that possibility. We accordingly ask that students be consistently available at their standing times. This is as much in the interest of the student's performance as that of our time.

Cancellations falling within 24 hours are billed in full without exception, as are meetings missed with notice that can't be successfully rescheduled before the end of the month. If a student finds him or herself with a potential conflict, we ask that efforts first be made to try to reschedule that obligation rather than this one. If he or she is out of town or is presented with travel difficulties, we ask that he or she Skype during the appointed time. We appreciate your understanding of a policy we've found we have to insist upon, but one that is again in the interest of both the student's performance and your tutor's time.

The Vocabulary Constabulary

The Vocabulary Constabulary is a boutique tutoring agency offering individualized diction, language, reading, and writing tutelage for students of all ages.

Our conviction is that it is now, perhaps more than ever, essential that students have exciting, thorough, and individualized tutoring in the correct and creative employment and comprehension  of the English language. In an increasingly digital and visual cultural landscape, one too often beleaguered by divisions born of failures to communicate fruitfully, proficiency  in written and spoken language, and the understanding thereof, are evermore crucial.

The goal of The Vocabulary Constabulary is to enhance students’ abilities not only to express themselves maturely, technically, and thoughtfully, but to better understand and connect meaningfully with each other as expressive humans. We seek also to cultivate a love of language and reading, and to help students discover the rich linguistic history and artistry of diction both commonly, and uncommonly, employed across disciplines.
